| Show THE PARK CITY PIKE FIRE the subjoined sub joined circular to the presiding authorities and members of the tha church explains itself salt lake city utah tuly july 9 1898 dear brethren and sisters ott on sunday june 1898 park city was visited by a scourge of fire and all the business and much of the residence portion of the town destroyed the latter day saints meeting house a substantial rock and lumber structure just erected at a cost of was entirely destroyed it was a well w ell built and conveniently arranged ranged ax house with accommodations in the basement for the sabbath school and similar organizations and a large assembly room above with a seating capacity of BOO in addition to the building the silver sacramental service the sunday school books and a considerable amount of property belonging to the relief society was also destroyed this loss falls very vary heavily upon I 1 the saints sai atts of park city at this time when many of the mines are shut down and every effort is necessary to relieve 4 the human suffering consequent upon the calamity which has visited the city the leading brethren of Suni summit snit stake are making an earnest effort to rebuild and place the people there iti a position to continue the most ex cellena work which has been done m park city during the past few yeara but the task is greater thin than the salute saints in that place and summit stake can am accomplish alone after having BO 66 ie recently raised such a large amount to build the structure now destroyed des they need assistance assi and we the members of the church ce will gla gladly adly render it and we ive commend the matter matier to the te favorable attention I 1 I 1 of the latter day saints your brethren WILFORD wilfor rOOD F P GEO Q CANNON JOS JOB F SMITH the saints in park city ave tor for years past been doing excellent missionary work in the city at present in through the courtesy of the school board they are permitted to use usi a school house for their seri services rices but when the school year commences commence a they are without a public place pi ice of w worship they contemplate th the erection of another building if possible this all 1 0 and need assistance assis taAce for this work oft contributions I 1 but I 1 on a can be s sent e hi id to ider elder e james R X glade park city city |
