| Show REUNION OF EAST TENNESSEE ELDERS the second annual reunion of the returned elders of the east tennessee conference was held at Grants grantsville ville in tooele thoele county saturday and sunday september and esth there were pre senit the following elders most of whom were accompanied ay iy by their families thomas W sloan J golden kimball and moses W taylor of salt lake city wm wim I 1 H hays aye and john R halliday of 0 f pleasant grove wm win spry robert R judd and albert barrus of Grants grantsville ville john A bevan joseph C orme tooele thoele byron W brown lehi john C bertoch rite artter J B woodward well wellsville s nathan tanner jr and john V bluth ogden A W ensign brigham Brig haan city george B williams and andrew D helm mill creek the elders eldera outside talde of tooele thoele county had gathered in salt lake city the evening before and early saturday morning took the westbound train for halt half way house at that point they were met by elders wm spry robert R judd and a number of their friends with teams to take the visitors to they were soon located among mutual friends at 2 pm the first meeting of the reunion was held in the grantsville Grants ville meeting house rem here the elders sang bang and re missionary experiences to those hose assembled while they in turn furnished furnished brass braes band music choir and solo singing after meet meeting ingan an adjournment was waa taken to the pleasant and commodious home of elder spry there on the lawn under gigantic weeping willows where refreshments were served the elders were strongly reminded of their conference on the green and in the woods of the south in the evening the people of Grant had prepared a party in their large hall where all joined in making the elders feel that they were welcome all restraint was thrown off all f felt elt that they were brothers and slaters sisters and in innocent enjoyment all learned to feel that it was good to be there sunday sundial morning was based in visiting the sunday school ably presided over by assistant superintendent albert erickson after which a hurried drive took the visitors to tooele thoele where meetings were held at and pm the elders related many of their experiences per perien lences ces some amusing others faath prom oPtIng the spirit of god was poured out in abundance and words of com comfort tort and inspiration flowed from the lips lipa of those who addressed the assem bled saints A visit to the vineyards of tooele thoele was a pleasing feature ot of the afternoon monday morning the elders met ait the residence of ender elder joseph C orme and held a business meeting the officers ot the post past year were reelect re elect ed they being thos W an prest denit wm win L hays hay vice john R halliday HalM day secretary and treas breir aurer A committee was appointed to draw up a letter from the reunion re union anlon ot at elders to their friends and acquaint anione anices in east tennessee and noeth carolina Oa rolina expressing appreciation of at kindness shown to in years yeam past when these Enders trai travelled veiled through the hills and hollows of the cumberland Cum berand mountains letters of regret and well wishes were read from a number of bre bretheren thiren living in parts partis of the state the gathering then them merged into a festl testimony meeting in which a rich portion of the holy spirit was enjoyed some borne of the testimonies borne particularly those of the sisters left not a dry eye among those present the joy and happiness of this reunion can so arcely be described love and affect affection lOn beamed from the eye of every brother SA aa each clasped hands and joined in alagan g the songs of zion the songs that had often won him a meal and bed in the south truly it was la a feast of spiritual refreshment onie one that no east bast tennessee elder can afford to miss mias in the future autum nor can too mulch much be sald said of the hospitality pita lity of the santa of grantsville Grants ville and tooele thoele As one sister expressed it had we been kings icings and queens they could have treated us no better to elders wm spry and R R judd jud of af Grants grantsville ville sad and joseph C orme and john A bevan thoele tooele as aeu as aa to the officers is due much of the dred cred lt it for the success of the reunion it was unanimously voted to hold athard a third reunion next year time and place to be named by the officers |
