| Show OBITUARY NOTES ANDREW HUND hendricksen levan utah june 27 1898 died at levan utah june andrew hendricksen drick sen after a year and a half of severe illness brother hendricksen was born march 8 1830 in drammen dragmen Dr ammen norway in 1848 he went to denmark and enlisted as a volunteer in the danish army served through the danesh holstein war in which he was wounded in 1854 he emigrated to america was married in 1857 to elizabeth nielson at basine wis in 1860 he heard and embraced the gospel emigrated to utah the same year settled in lehl lehi utah county moved to smithfield cache county in 1862 from there in 1865 he moved to plute county while there he served in the indian war lost most of his property and was driven from his home he moved to ephraim sanpete county in 1886 and to levan juab county in 1871 where he died leaving a large family in 1877 he performed a nto denmark and was again in 1883 sent on a mission to the northern states he held the priesthood of a high priest brother hendricksen was entitled to be named with the pioneers of utah he was an industrious hard working man W B PETER BENSON elder peter denson benson an old and highly esteemed resident of newton died last tuesday evening after an illness of some months with stomach troubles the deceased was born april 26 1831 in sogn bornholm denmark and Join joined edthe the church in 1852 emigrated to utah in 1863 1853 and traveled by ox team over the plains an eleven months journey he arrived in salt lake city october 3rd ard 1853 lived there two years and moved to lehi where he made his home for eleven years he then moved to clarkston cache county where he lived a short time about two years and then moved to newton cache county and was one of the first settlers here he was a counselor to our late bishop hans funk also a counselor to our present bishop W H griffin until his death the deceased leaves seventeen children 62 52 grandchildren and one great grandchild the funeral took place from the meeting house last thursday the speakers were elders orson smith jordaan and W H griffin and coun christian larsen who all spoke consoling words and of the good character and abid qualification of the deceased the remains were then escorted to their last resting place on the newton cemetery by a large host of relatives and friends the deceased will meet beyond the vall vail ope oe wife eight children and twelve grandchildren newton cache co june 26 1898 N JACOBSON I 1 BARBARA ANN EWELL EVANS tuesday morning surrounded by her children barbara ann ewell evans evana passed to that great beyond and was at last relieved of the cares of this earth deceased was one of the oldest inhabitants of lehl lehi and is well known throughout utah as the wife ut bishop david evans evana now deceased barbara ann ewell evns evans was born in the state of virginia on may 1821 and at the age of nine years year 8 removed to bedford county state of tennessee when she remained three years and to in the yew year 1938 1838 moved to ray county missouri where she witnessed the falling of the stars november 1838 sister evans first heard the sound of the everlasting gospel preached by elder jacob foutz fouts and next heard it preached by elder david evans the latter elder first baptized the mother and then the rest of the family they remained in missouri un til the saints were driven from that state shortly after arriving in illinois sister evanss mother and two sisters died and leaving all the responsibility of the care of the family on her at the age of 18 years sister evans wa was baptized by elder david evans june 10 1837 and was married to him on the of november 1841 they remained in illinois until 1846 when the saints were driven from that state at that time elder evans was the bishop of the eleventh ward sister evans passed through all the hardships which the saints endured while they were moving from the st atna diate of illinois may 1850 sister evans started for utah with a baby boy of ten daya a V of age in her arms and five other scalp children to attend to they arrived in salt lake valley vaclev september 15 1850 and in 1851 inov moved to lehi where she has ever since resided she was the mother of fifteen aidi dren seven boys and eight girls ten of whom are now living grandchild grand chIl i dren 86 living and 21 dea dead d and d great grandchildren 43 living s sister evans died bearing a strong testimony to the truthfulness olf of tha gospel and that joseph smith was ad true prophet of god |
