| Show SUNDAY SCHOOL conference brigham city aug 19 to th the e E editor dt t or the sunday school don conference terence of the boxelder Box elder stake convened at 10 a m august 1898 1808 there were ere present on the stand of the general board superintendents george goddard and karl G maeser and law le hunsaker of the stake board superintendents abott lucius A snow john H bott and J D call elders clawson Cla waon kelley and watkins and arthur stay nor nier jr from salt lake together other sunday school workers including the bishops of the various wards the idea of district conferences tot for sunday schools originated in Box boxelder elder stake which idea was followed 6 marked success and alid meetings were hapit at honeyville and biter bear river saturday and at ait brigham city im alsol willard on an sunday nina nineteen teen schools tt being in 9 represented at the meetings the usual opening ng and closing exercises were obder observed Ved at each meeting and the general and stake sunday sundar school oft officers leers were unanimously sustained ta inet and a program consisting of two class exercises and a song among which were we the following life of josso joseph in egypt by collinston collingston Col linston school ten 0 cpin mand ments beaver school book of 0 mormon chart exercises by bear river city and mantua schools articles ot of ralth faith first ward brigham bible class exercises three mile school boole of mormon exercise fourth ward principles of the Gospel North willard and leaflet exercises willard school all the exercises showed and careful preparation and a number were held up as models to be adu in future conferences Teach Teachers 1 bibet ings were held on saturday at ville and bear river atty and 6 sun day a at brigham Brig abs tbs schools school ye ported toy bry their as aa being in a healthy condition superintendent snow reported stake intake and the labors of his hia associates and sunday school missionaries A great effort has been made to have all workers observe the word of wisdom there are officers and teachers achens te in the sunday school of whom are observers 97 who do not observe it strictly 9 were absent hence their standing banding fi Is not known and two refused to say whether they observed it or not it ts Is firmly believed that by another year all will report as strict observers of this law the stake officers officer were complimented an m the fact that they were in closer touch wath their workers than is fousio in any other stake in zion one feature of the conference was the singling in concert by the schools superintendents goddard and maeser spoke poke at each meeting and timely re rn larks were made by leo hunsaker elders clawson and kelley of the stake presidency and superintendents now bou and call 1 among the subjects treated upon were the word of wisdom tithing fasting sacrament teachers and officers meeting sunday school treatise hymn books obedience nickel sunday marching punctuality baptism cleanliness records juvenile instructor etc besides answering numerous questions an excellent spirit prevailed and aad a ad thurs one of tire the most interesting and profitable conferences was brought to t close CHARLES D BROWN stake secretary |
