| Show RECEIVED THE GOSPEL IN TEXAS AUSTIN city travis county texas perhaps you will be surprised at hearing from this part but I 1 hope it will interest some myself and daughters were baptized into the church of jesus esus christ of Latt erday saints on november 1896 1895 when we first heard of mor mons being in the aby we ae said we would not have anything to do with them elders melvin 0 miner and albert C dalley dailey called I 1 went to the door and after seeing them I 1 changed my mind and asked them in and after listening a while awhile I 1 b became became convinced that all I 1 had heard beard about the mormons cormons could not be true I 1 read the little tract they left and became greatly interested I 1 had my husband hunt them up and when they came I 1 asked them thein for more literature treating on their doctrine and became more deeply interested I 1 got another tract and also a voice of warning then elders miner and dalley went to lockhart Lockhar tto to attend conference still I 1 kept up my studies of the mormon doctrine when elder miner returned elder john wood came with him and I 1 got a book of mormon also read a brief history of the church and orson pratts works the girls keeping up with me in reading and studying we were baptized by elder miner and have never antver regretted the step we have taken we only wish we could have some of the elders with us all the time for our house is always open to them MRS E L THOMPSON |
