| Show REPORT FROM OKLAHOMA MARSHALL 0 T may loth 1897 the NEWS is a regular and always welcome visitor aang other interesting things I 1 always like to read of the experience peri ence of the elders who are in the world preaching the gospel and the thought comes to me that perchance a few lines from this part of the world would be of interest to some ot of your many readers I 1 have been laborin laboring g in oklahoma which is a part of the ind indian an territory mission fr fir more than one year and have enjoyed my labors very much the people residing in this territory are from nearly every state in the Ij union nion and are inclined to be liberal in their opinions our elders are treated with kindness wherever they go and are making large numbers ot of friends with the prospects of many converts in my travels I 1 have met quite a number of people who in time lime past part have been residents of utah among them I 1 will mention the burkett family who were early residents ot of provo they always make the elders welcome who visit them then there is mr joseph nelson who went to utah in 1852 he is a wool carder by trade he worked for several years in the old aid mill mil I 1 and it in provo after the move south he tells of going out to echo canyon at the time the army marched to utah also of going out to meet the handcart company which was caught in the snow he still claims membership members bip with the saints and has bopes of uniting with them in utah in im the near future there are twelve elders in oklahoma at present all are in good health and are enjoying benj their labors all are traveling in g without purse or scrip which we find by far the most bucce successful way ot of getting the gospel before the people and all the elders testify of the blessings VIV VI V which come to those who faithfully observe the word of wisdom and keep the last day the present season is remarkable for the frequency an and d violence of the storms which have visited the land truly the judgments of god are being visited upon the people there is a tair fair prospect for good crops this year we would be pleased to correspond with any who have friends in this part of the world oar address is hennessey lOngfe sher county 0 T we find the NEWS a great ea 4 t aid in our work and many of our tr mends i ands prefer it to any of their local papers GEORGE V MORKIS jr C A ROBISON |
