CHRIS NELSON AND MILAKA CHRISTENSEN Musical tour set Milaka Christensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Earl and Faline Christensen, and Chris Nelson, son of Henry Nelson and Judy Nelson, both of Layton, have been accepted as members of the 1987. Spirit of America Performing tour of Europe. They will be representing the city of Layton as an emissary to the people of Europe, promotirig the best of American youth. Milaka and Chris were chosen on the basis of maturity, performance level and on the ability to present positive images of the youth of America. The Spirit of America Marching Band will tour and perform in Holland, Luxembourg, Australia, Switzerland, Italy, Germany and Belgium. Milaka and Chris will join other selected students from across the United States, rehearse for five days, then fly to Europe for 17 days of performing ahd touring. Milaka, a junior, plays the flute and piccolo in the Layton High School Band and bassoon in the Layton High orchestra. She has been in the school musical for two years and has performed at numerous civic and church functions. Chris, a sophomore, plays saxophone in the Layton High Band. He is a member of the pep band and stage band. Paul Kapp, the band director, Milaka and Chris will be raising a mjor portion of their expense money themselves with various activities.
