A V FIRST AID to the AILING HOUSE I some trv stuff By ROGER C. WHITMAN Question: The woodwork in my home was originally stained - gum-woo- 5 Jw0 d. sandpapered the stain as I best 1 could and painted it with semi gloss white paint. I find that the white paint keeps chipping off. Would you advise me to sand it off or use paint remover? What should I use for an undercoat to keep it from chipping? Would aluminum paint be all right for an undercoat? Answer: Aluminum paint makes a very good priming coat, or you could use two coats of enamel and then a coat of enamel. To remove the chipping paint, try to get a small, portable electric sander, which would save time and labor. You could also soften the paint with paint remover and then scrape it off. Follow by thorough cleaning with turpentine, for if every trace of remover is not washed off, it will continue its action and spoil the new paint. i un-dercoa- ter WYLDE AND WOOLY i'm painting Kickgty By Bert Thomas ths Classified Department MISCELLANEOUS old shed, WHAT'S IT LOOK LIKE?
