By 4 a.m., the club members had assembled to set up tables, grills and assorted equipment required to feed the anticipated customers. This year the Leos sponsored a dance and then contributed the proceeds to the funds of age-grou- p swimmers. They also gathered baked goods and fruit for the needy at Christmas, installed gum machines in local stores for the profit of the handicapped, and delivered gifts to children in the hospital at Easter. Next year they hope to become involved in more of such projects. Because me Magna Leos are the only such affiliation in the state and interest seems to fall extremely short of expectations, all members plan to advertise the opportunities available to youth who are willing to join and thus increase membership. Meetings will begin this coming September on Saturdays at the Lion Community House in Magna. THE NEW DOUBLE KWIK manager, Dean Puckett, is flanked by employees Linda Wallace, assistant manager, and Richard Dalrymple. New Manager Takes Double Kwik Post Double Kwik, 8915 W. 2700 has named a new manager at their Magna location. Dean Puckett, soon to be a Magna resident, has taken S. over managerial duties, replacing Juanita Jolly. Mrs. Jolley has announced plans to move to New Mexico. I am happy to be in Magna and a member of the Mr. Double Kwik team, Puckett said. The Colorado native will be assisted in manager chores by Linda Wallace, of Magna. She has been hired as the new assistant manager. Former moved manage assistant Ron Wyant, has to Idaho to help a family-owne- d manager, business. Other new Double employees are Kwik Richard Dalrymple, NeVa Gregory, Michael Schend and Brad Wollam. Weird Pet Contest Dates Set Lake Salt County Recreation Department is pleased to announce its annual Weird Pet Contest to be held July 9 (Wednesday) Evergreen Park, 2220 South Evergreen Ave. (3435 South) July 10 (Thursday) White City Park, 930 East Onyx Lane (9695 South) July 11 (Friday) David Gourley Park 4300 West 5015 South (Kearns) Trophies will be awarded for most unusual, biggest, smallest, most exotic, oldest, and youngest pet. Runners- - up will receive passes to Hogle Zoo. Dogs and Cats are not eligible for the contest. There are no age restrictions and we hope that we see a lot of kids with their unusual pets at the parks. Judging will begin at 10 a m. on all three days. |
