Show FELLOW REPUBLICS republicans OF BOX ELDER COW COUNTY aib adv because a 1 couple of disgruntled on a tee technical point of 0 order were enabled to deny me a heiting healing upon the floor of our recent convention after I 1 had been granted that privilege by the body of tile the house and had been invited to the platform by the presiding officer and because several of 0 the best men in and out ol of the convention had seen and heard and approved of 0 my paper and had advised me to present it to the convention and lastly because several after the convention expressed to me a desire to hear the article and signified their disapproval approval lis and surprise at the action ot of these men w who ho had been counted among that hat broad inin minded ded free hearted class in which our baity abounds one man a peer to either of these would be champions expressing a belief that it if it had been put to that crucial test of a unanimous vote note that I 1 would have hae won out but for the votes notes of these stalwarts stal warts therefore 1 I take pleasure in having the paper published as follows believing that a more harmonious and congenial condition could exist in ill our county republican ranks than what we now have permit me to set forth the he following rude and imperfect outlines in view of that end this plan calls for just a little more work than we are wont to extend I 1 in n that direction but for the ex etra exertion I 1 believe we will be many times repaid and let us bear in mind the old adage there is no excellence without labor heretofore tho the election campaign of each time and season has been put into operation not by careful thou thought lit and counsel on oil the part of the baity as a whole as to the most consistent and valuable steps to take but we have come together hurriedly iu in convention as several delegations and different factions each perhaps with some sort of scheme to manipulate for a selfish purpose and inthe it the safeguard of counsel has been sought it has often been with some other like faction by way ot of inaugurating a swap of support on candidates be that as it may wo we continued on page six J WWW REPUBLICA 4 as OF BOX ELDER COUNTY continued front from first page must fiust admit that thai there has nol lot always leen been tho the unity or of purpose nor the expression of good gocia will that should bo be desirable some delegations have come into the conventions with practically no plan of work before ta ein only to 10 watch ivantch arid wait as the N work ork progressed tor for something to act upon and then as a rule for lack of time and acquaintance with the subject matter they hale not dot been able 0 o 0 discriminate wisely as to which way votes totes un known to tile them have been nominated for whom they have elther either lent their support or 0 withheld it as fancy would suggest worthy nominees ma may have been turned down thus to the advantage ot of less worthy ones conventions are arc too much of 0 claptrap affairs for cool deliberations even in state conventions the same conditions ire aro to be found I 1 have seen as is many as tour four delegations or 01 rather 1 actions for each delegation and followers working one and aird the sanio same office and a delegation nor noc knowing aught either so to speak split up votes vote and scattered them to the faur our winds as candy thrown to children just to see the cramble cramb lc the plan I 1 would suggest is this let lei there here bo be a republican Republic au county council composed ot of a chairman a vice chairman it i second vice chairman and a secretary these to ac act together with all the precinct chairmen in the county to complete the council this would correspond much WHIP tile the plesent committee out but let id the ino labors 01 me proposed bounell be more specific and broader IP ID span of 0 action let heir labors begin on tho the first saturday in in august of each and ever every election year by meeting on oa that date notice as to dirae ahne arid anil place shall have been given oui by the secretary prior to that late date at this meeting the general sc outlook cutlo ol should bo be sized up and all the offices to be filled at tho the oming coming election should be con si dered as to a tale lair and equal canal distribution throughout the county count and tile the diozt suitable candidates available for the positions those precincts not had representation on oil the county ticket should have their wishes conceded to as far as is consistency would peri permit cit let a copy cop of the ini minutes of this meeting be DO forwarded to every pre chiat and a call made for the precincts to meet to heir hear and discuss the contents and ami the precincts liay ha fita been conceded representation on oil the ticket to 10 name their candidates on tho the first saturday ot of september following let the council meet again and have the tha names 0 of o all ail proposed candidates presented and discussed discus sei in a general way as to fitness and ability bill let minutes ot of this meeting also bo be forwarded to tile the precincts und and calls P aade of them to again meet and hear the names of all candidates as presented 0 to o the he council and thele heie by get gel their ai to tile the nl diio ers on the ticket if ana an let adjustments adJust ni ants and changes be made if feces necessary ary to con foin to lie ho general grood good of all again on the first saturday in oct let the council leei meet for the third and last time before the county contention is i to convene and there formulate emulate a suggestive ticket for lie li e approval and catir confirmation Ir mation ot the contention this would mean it a sort of cut and dried policy for foe tile the convention tion to consider but in as much as is it had been cut and dried by a al ll 11 concerned mcd en jav n tn tl mh oter loter there ought to be little objection to it no ruptures lup tures to meet and no short dodges to loolu nut for by this abi method the eters baters ald ild become well prepared to ballot intelli and it would be ii an 1 l tract lve feature for many ones one to fall into line as is they could leo i eo that they being riven given a fair and impartial chanco chance to the deliberations ol of the party and on oil going goin to tile the polls they could feel that they had had a part in framing tile the ticket even though they had not been to the convention it would be making a 1 genuine reality of of tile the that oft re peairl phrase A government of tile tho Pe people oc by tile the people arid and for the people arter after the election and the ho assurance of off office lee to our nominees let it be the privilege of our state legis lalois to call the council together and d ascertain as nearly as possible the needs and wishes as regards measures to be presented to the law mak I 1 ina body of the state it would mean i somewhat SONe What safeguard to them as agli against accusations of neglect of and indifference to duty duly saying nothing of tile the good jesuits accruing front from th the same in other inspects republican as is it a rule are good singers lor for their principles tend to mirthfulness tul ful neEs ness and their theme Is always this plan as a whole is not noi adapted to the workings of cunning politicians it we have any ot of that class within our ranks it is hardly to be expected that they will lend their support in this direction for the tha very object of 0 this idea Is to play every caid in fit the open and above board in fit view of every voter in the county where lie he who runs may read let tile the members of the council hold office for two years let the chairmen aud and two vice chairmen and secretary be chosen by the convention while the balance of the members would of course come from the dif ferent precincts let a permanent minute and ami roll book be kept and as the officers above named would bo be elected every two years year there ought to bo be a reorganization toil of each precinct or at least it a reural meeting held to celust ate the old officers some of aloni haic not lad bad a reorganization for a of many deais and I 1 know of at t leaba one precinct where good ica reide that has not had a republican precinct pie organization as let have atte tile llie tune time for the precinct pie revival meL meetings tings should be it at the very outset of tile the campaign work vork while the officers first mentioned could not be elected elect etl at
