ogden last night was unanimously ni adopted resolved that the city proceed as is as possible to the paving of the twenty fifth street district with utah sandstone blocks that the city engineer be improve in knowledge and many other benefits E J TARNEY secretary death of julia moses the well known and aged veteran elder julian moses passed quietly from this life this morning at at the family residence in east mill mil creek he was eighty two years of age yesterday being born april 11 1810 though not one of the first band of pioneers he arrived in utah in the summer of 1847 and enjoyed the distinction of being the first male teacher that ever taught sah school ool in our territory he joined the church in an early day d ay and was ordained an elder under the hands of president wilford woodruff and spent about ten years of life his life on mitsi orm preaching the gospel he died surrounded by his bis family and friends after an illness of nearly four months he was widely known and respected as an honest temperate industrious man whose works were consistent with his bis professions of a latter day saint death of dr hamilton the death of dr john F hamilton occurred on saturday at his hie residence east first south street the deceased who was in his bis sixty biety third year occupied a prominent position in his profession and was one of the oldest members of the medical fraternity in this city he was a native of new england and came west at an early day locating in colorado about the time of the pikes peak mining excite excitement ment on the outbreak of the civil war he enlisted in a colorado regiment the one to which the late 10 0 J hollister Hol llster was attached and together they served out the enlistment subsequently to this dr hamilton removed to utah where he has lived ever since he was one of the founders of st marks hospital in this city for some years the deceased had been in failing health and only recently returned from a trip to the hawaiian islands hoping hopt n g to derive benefit from change of air and scene he leaves a wife and a large circle of friends the funeral took place this afternoon at 2 A false report dear brother will you were rendered and the whole of the exercises were interesting and pro profitable almy ward appears to be in good working order and our services on sundays are well attended bishop james bowns bowne presides having for his counselors brothers john crawford and john sims we have a very commendable choir of over fifty voices voice under the of mr james H H od and its success is the best evidence of mr hood hoods a ability as an a leader of vocal culture miss J beveridge the organist of our choir is on a visit to her relatives and friends in utah her pla place c e being filled temporarily by miss
