and nelson AMENDED proposition treasurer walden who had previously submitted a proposition to sell to the board a school site amended his proposition by offering to take bonds at five points above par in payment there for committee sit ones RENEW THE LEASE V Q G matthews notified the board that the lease on the school premises in north salt lake had bad expired and he offered to renew the lease at a rental of 10 a mouth month committee on sites CHANGE OF RULES trustee J N elson reported the following changes of the rules consolidating the committee on furniture and the committee committe eon on general supplies the committee commit tee on furniture and supplies to be composed of five members who shall from time to time report on the furniture and general school furnishings on band and the need of more as such need may mav be and under direction of the board this committee shall make all purchases of every kind except as named in paragraph 5 hereto belo belonging this COW committee the board of education of salt lake city gentlemen we the undersigned undersigner under signed residents and taxpayers of the seventeenth dis district dietric of salt lake oily city respectfully on petition petition ieti tion your honorable body to appoint mrs rachel edwards principal of the seventeenth district for the ensuing year referred to committee on teachers ANOTHER SCHOOL SITE W R bjones jones jr offered to sell to the board a school site on first north street foi fo of which could stand for two years at 8 per cent interest committee on sites architects recommendations carroll kern kerd who tad lad submitted competitive plans for a school house in which the smead system of heating 0 and ventilation was waa recommended stated that if the board did not favor the use of the smead system steam or hot water systems could be substituted without requiring any alteration of the plans plane committee on t k bildings uil dings TO INSURE TITLES trustee nelson offered the following resolution which was adoplh resolved that the committee on sites and buildings be instructed to proceed with all practicable despatch in the procurement cu of titles to the school property of the city in this board pursuant to law that they be authorized to make all needful negotiations of said title and property and modes of transfer and that if the they y deem it needful they may newman and alf committee on teachers duke nel and young committee on school work baldwin nelson newman young and alt alf committee on finance nelson duke young pike and baldwin adopted REFERRED TO THE BUILDING COMMITTEE trustee baldwin called the attention of the board to the fact that the architects who had bad submitted competitive ce peti tive plans were dissatisfied with the action of the board in deciding to allow other architects to be present while the ones interested were ex plAin pla ining hug their plans the action previously taken was reconsidered and the whole matter was placed in thomas offered to sell to the board feet front by feet deep lacing facing west on first west street between fourth and fifth south for cash committee ou sites CLERK CLERIC MORETON BOND clerk moreton offered his bis bond in the sum of 1000 with J B farlow Farlo wand and A li as his bis sureties which was referred to the committee on finance REFERRED TO JUDGE DILLON thomas B krutz a boston bond buyer suggested that the board submit the question as to whether or not the bonds issued by the board became a part of the bonded indebtedness of the city to judge dillon of new york for an opinion which he thought could be obtained for from to trustee nelson moved that the ques be prepared by the attorney of the board and submitted to judge dillon the board to pay one fourth of the cost and the city three fourths mr newman cowman was opposed to this and mr pike suggested that the case might be determined by bringing a friendly suit the motion to submit the matter to judge dillon was carried only mr newman new man voting against it TO REPLY BY CABLE nelson reported that inquiries in regard to the bonds had been received from london and as it was too late to answer by mail he be moved that
