| Show THE LIVING AND THE DYING WHATEVER may be the result in august of the division of our people on national party lines the work commenced will go anand henceforth republicanism and democracy will make their way here a as in other parts of this great country the mormon people are not playing at politics poli tJoe they are not moving for a temporary purpose or aiming to achieve a mere local victory they were never more in earnest than in their inquiries into the distinctive doctrines doctrin ee of the two great parties and in their adhesion to that party which best beat satisfies their ideas of sound government ern ment the originators of the movement have also started out for good and all aall they are strong supporters of their respective party principles they have no mere present campaign in view they believe it to be for the true interests of the territory to establish the national parties here permanently manent ly and they will continue to work in this direct direction lon it to is the hope of the Li liberal berall faction to maintain its hold upon this city and perpetuate its aggressive and destructive existence through the dissolution that has come to the peoples party the Libe liberal raPP bosses and those elements which are undesirable in any well ordered community will doubtless cling to this thin hope and work to that end but assure as sure as the sun rises after the shades of night disperse so sure will the sun of peace dawn on utah and Li liberal berall darkness with its evil works its fraud and corruption I 1 its deadly designs and its work of political assassination be banished for ever there to is a bardt bar possibility that in this city the liberal faction may succeed al the august election there are evidences in view that the same old tricks worked by the same deft hands will be tried as they were worked at the municipal election the thousands of names upon the registry lists of persons who have no legal residence in this city offer an opportunity for much fraud and the kind of people who are being placed here and there with the promises which are being extorted from those those who obtain public or private employment suggest a repetition of the former infamies amies so that there are some reasons who liberal bosses bosom perceive a chance for one more victory but against all this are the vigilance which will be exercised by both republicans and democrats the information which some of them have in relation to the past the influence which they will be able to wield in the campaign and the certainty of legal prosecution against persons who violate the law on election matters all these will be potent factors against fraud while the bettor better people in the liberal 9 ranks will quietly withdraw and support those nominees who represent their true politics and will best serve the true interests of the territory in the event of a liberal triumph la in august how ever the democratic and the republican parties will not be materially affected they will continue their work they will win new converts the liberal faction will gradually lose its hold upon all but the depraved elements elemen tp and it cannot survive in the very nature of things it must go down before the march of the national political armies it itis is only a creature of time let its remaining supporters view it as they please it is not built to last the only question really raised in relation to it now is has the time come for its demise that it will die and that before very long to is conceded by its most vigorous supporters they only claim that its ito contemplated quietus is premature it has within it none of the elements of perpetuity but the democratic party and the republican party recently organized in utah have been set up for keep the result in august will not their continuance they are each bound to maintain their respective positions sit ait ions to increase their numbers and to be the continuous opposing political elements of future it will be well for rational people to look at this and seeing it they will give eviden evidence of their good sense by taking their places without delay in the ranks of the party of their choice the adherents of the decaying liberal aall faction cannot under any circumstances postpone much longer its inevitable dissolution better Bette unite with live parties work for vital issues move with living biving bodies and aim at abiding objects than to linger along with a decaying carcass und and breathe the air of mortification and death for democratic gentiles to fight against democracy and republican gentiles to make war upon republicanism lican ism 11 just to foster a faction that has not a single solid issue and is ready to drop into an everlasting grave appears to be the very agry summit of monumental folly |
