Show OMAHA jan 21 there was a collision of suburban trains over the belt line division of the missouri pacific about 8 this morning within the city limits william boyle a local democratic politician was instantly killed hilled mr Soh warick deputy county treasurer was injured internally J A harvey and a man named were badly crushed probably fatally S fraber and frank church had their legs broken two brothers named mitz leff railroad shop boys we were very seriously 1 injured d one had bad his skull fractured several other passengers were more or less law bruised conductor william shields had bad his arm broken and was badly crushed the suburban train was twenty minutes late but ahad orders to run ahead to omaha A freight train which had orders to follow the passenger train into omaha broke in two near druid hill this being discovered the engineer immediately increased his speed to keep out of the way of the rear portion the suburban train had stopped at a crossing and was just pulling out when the enk engineer itier discovered the freight rapidly approaching he opened wide the throttle of his engine hoping to get out of the way but the wheels slid around on the track and in an instant the freight dashed into the rear of the passenger train |
