Show A peculiar accident W A H 11 writes from layton utah july eth 1888 as follows editor deseret news an event which might have been a great calamity but which seem seemingly ingli through toe ane interposition of a kind providence only became a serious mishap occurred in layton this afternoon hon david stoker of bountiful probate judge of davis county was quietly driving in his buggy accompanied compa nied by a daughter about 13 years of age when a runaway team attached to a heavily loaded farm wagon coming from behind came in contact with his bis light vehicle the tongue of the wagon struck mr stoker s squarely barely in the back after going through through the rear of the buggy and in the general smash up which followed mr stoker and his bin daugh daughter were precipitated under the wagon and rolled or dragged same distance and floady floa ly almost comple completely completed tel buried in mud parties coming to their aid set them upon their fet when it was found that aside from some very bad bruises apparently patently a parent ly there was no serious hurt it it is hoped that no internal injuries are sustained the buggy which was a new one appeared as you would imagine it would had bad it gone a roller mill aside from its value as old iron it would not bring one dollar consid ing the wrecked boudi condition tion of the buggy the escape of its inmates is nothing short of a miracle ur mr stoker and daughter were conveyed to their home in bountiful by one of his hia sons who was just behind at the timp time of the accident |
