The SUU Womens Resource Committee will sponsor a series of brown bag lunch lectures covering many different topics throughout spring quarter. The series is open to the public and will be held from 1 p.m. on Tuesdays beginning March 30, in the Bryce Canyon Room. However, this first lecture, Ordinary Women with Extraordinary Lives: How women writers have broken through cultural stereotypes, will go from p.m. and will be presented by Julie Nichols, instructor of creative writing and literature and BYU. Danielle Beazer, an instructor in SUUs language and literature department., has been contacting die various speakers who will participate in the lectures. Beazer said drat die presenters feel like drey want to emphasize student participation. These lectures are really for die students. For instance, Christine Frost will be giving the lecture on How to Invest Your Money (April 20) and we feel like that is an important thing for students to know once drey move on, said Beazer. Frost is a financial consultant for Steve Corry Realty and will present students widr ideas on how to manage dreir money following graduation. Beazer also said drat die setting is to be very informal where die public can bring dieir lunch to eat while drey discuss the issues at hand, hence discussion die brown bag title. It will be a type of round-tablconcerning die topic of die day where people can participate and eat at die same time. Along widi Frosts lecture, highlights of die series are sure to be die April 27 discussion of gay and lesbian issues to be led by sociology professor Dr. Dan Pence and die presentation on women playwrights by SUUs Kay Cook along widi dieatre major Robbie Berry on May 4. Also, on May 11, Elise Leahy plans to lead a discussion centered on contemporary French playwright Helene Cixous. The final lunch will be an open forum to discuss subjects presented in die previous lectures in die brown bag series and is set to begin May 25. Both beginning and advanced sections will be offered according to the number of students who enroll. these SU Japanese students, will team-teacwill be offered on Mondays and classes Japanese classes. Beginning p.m. and an advanced class will be also be Wednesdays from offered Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30-- p.m. Nielson hopes that enough students enroll for the two beginning classes. In the beginning class basic Japanese will be taught In the advanced class level, culture and business language will be introduced as well as more advanced Japanese. Nielson added, Japanese and Spanish are the most important languages for North Americans to learn, especially those students going into business.
