Show PAGE 20 THE THUNDERBIRD SUSC THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 1990 f Campus Voice Thursday Events September 27, 1080 As student body president for the upcoming school year, n have prioritized three major items which wish to see accomplished. Club Rush, 10:00-2:0Student Center Patio Franklin Institute, Guaranteeing Better Grades, 9:00 p.m., Thunderbird Circle 0, I 4' 0SSCISC CALENDAR The first is an increase of enthusiasm, school spirit, and student involvement. In order to achieve this goal, we have expanded student government and initiated new programs. One program am especially excited about is called SU Groups. This grass roots movement divides the freshman class into groups of twenty, each led by a junior or senior counselor. These groups will help acquaint the new students with the campus, as well as providing an environment in which to form lasting friendships. hope that each student will become involved with student government or another extra curricular activity, realizing that there is much more to a education than reading from texts and attending lectures. The second priority is the raising of funds for the library. The State Legislature has approved a motion which will match two dollars for each dollar raised by the institution. In order to receive the maximum dollar amount, we must raise $12,000. Finally, it is imperative that we protect not only this institution, but higher education on a state level. The proposed sales tax initiative threatens funding on a large scale. As students, we have a great responsibility to voice our opinion in the upcoming elections in order to defeat this measure. P.S. Good Luck this year and watch for the Wool Beast!!
