Stuart said she expects architects will begin designing plans for Phase II this summer. During the same meeting, the Board of Regents changed the procedures that colleges are required to follow to add new degree programs. According to The Salt Lake Tribune, the Board voted vote or approval of 1 1 Board unanimously to require a members before any of Utahs colleges can start a new master or doctorate program. Rationale for the new requirement was attributed to the high cost of graduate programs. The Board was concerned that Weber State and SUSC would want to begin more expensive graduate and research programs at a time when funds are at a minimum. Also, by adding new programs, Regents said that the schools may infringe on the roles of Utah State University and the University of Utah. The board hopes to prevent program duplication among the schools while directing higher education toward developing programs that are needed the most. According to Provost Terry D. Alger, the Board of Regents will look to see if there is a need and funding for new graduate programs before allowing new program development. Alger noted that while the board adopted this decision, SUSC had not made plans to begin any new graduate programs within the next five years, nor had it changed its mission statement that designates SUSC as a teaching university. two-thir- BOOICSTORE Sullivan's K Cafe 86 South Main 586-67- 61 You are invited to a special series of GOSPEL SERVICES SULLIVAN'S CAFE Homemade Food Daily Specials, Potato Bar, Salad Bar, Child's Menu Breakfast available all day Open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Daily 32-ite- m PRESENT THIS COUPON FOR A 5 DISCOUNT Sullivan's LaTajada Steakhouse (upstairs) Italian Menu, Steaks, Seafood, Salad Bar, Lounge, Hors d'oeuvre Menu en p nightly 6 to 10 p.m. PRESE THIS COUPON FOR A 5 DISCOUNT at the Parowan City Library every Monday at 8 p.m.; The Cedar City Senior Center, 489 E. 200 S., each Sunday at 4 p.m.; and at the Cedar City Library, 136 W.
