Students should also make a decision as to whether it is possible for them to waive the deposit fee by including a cosigner on their account. According to utility personnel, the cosigner must be a person with good credit and a current account with the utility. To establish electric service, students should visit the local Utah Power & Light office located at 107 N. Main. The deposit charge will be approximately $200 for allelectric homes or apartments. Students with dwellings heated by oil or gas, will pay roughly a $150 deposit. According to UP&L Customer Information Representative Lorna Torres, the deposit may be paid over a period of two months and will be returned after six months of continued good credit. The Mountain Bell office, located at the corner of Center Street and 100 West, will provide information on telephone service. Students will have to decide on a long distance carrier for telephone calls. MCI, AT&T, are carriers and that are available in the Cedar City' area. Before making a decision, Mountain Bell operators advise students to research the rates of each carrier and decide which will be most economical tor them. Students may be charged a deposit fee of $60, depending upon their credit information. Installation fees will be a minimum of $43 and can be paid in installments, according to Mountain Bell officials. Call-waitin- g, and are all options availible for an additional cost. If your residence is heated by oil, Petrolane Gas Service is located at 1440 N. Main.
