Coming up Poetry reading slated A poetry reading by visiting poet instructor Sam Green will be held Friday at 8 p.m. in the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery. Green, the publisher of Brooding Heron Press, Waldron Island, Wash., is the author of a book of poetry, Giilnets, and two chapbooks, Wind: Four Letters to Melinda Mueller and Hands Learning to Work." He is working on a book titled "Atonement. I Ramses program set The life and times of the Egyptian pharoah Ramses II is the subject of a March 3 program scheduled to start at 7 p.m. in Old Administration 204. The program has been planned to make SUSCs March 7 and 8 Ramses tour more meaningful, according to tour director Richard Kennedy. Kennedy and Steve Heath will present the of program, painting a mental picture the historical background and physical setting that produced the 13th century B.C. masterpieces shown in the Ramses II Exhibit. Theres still space on the trip and Kennedy, extension 7912, should be contacted for more information. Float trip scheduled Theres still time to reserve a seat for a geology field trip Friday and Saturday to Nevada and a float trip on the Colorado River below Hoover Dam. Participants will visit the Valley of Fire, Hoover Dam and the Lost City Museum, and will float through 1 stretch of geologic time on the the Colorado between the dam and Willow Beach. Art exhibit planned A public reception will be held at the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery March 6 to mark the opening of Celebration 45, the 45th annual Cedar City art exhibition, and the senior portfolio of SUSC student Mark Jones. The opening will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. with a lecture by Harrison Groutage, the Celebration 45 juror. The Cedar City Annual Art Exhibition has the distinction of being the oldest art exhibit in the community-sponsore- d western United States. |
