The Student Service Center will serve as the informational center for the Internship Program under the direction of Garn LeBaron. These internships will provide students with the opportunity to have field experience in their career choice as well as be an invaluable supplement to the classroom experience. Information on internships available on the local, state, and national level will available in the Student Service Center. Many of the internship opportunities will be advertised in the paper as well. Those interested in taking advantage of internships offered by national internship organizations and BYU may also get information and sign. The Student Service Center is here to serve the students of SUSC and we would all like to see students take advantage of the many opportunities it offers. Senate is hard at work for you Active and concerned are two words that best describe the student senate this year. After tackling the school constitution last spring quarter, the senate has turned its attention to investigating the alignment of student fees. The students last spring promised the administration that they would give an additional $4.50 to go toward a new student center. If at all possible, the senate is looking at the present allocation of student fees seeing if this $4.50 can be found internally without raising fees next year. The senators are also actively concerned with the students they represent. During the summer, electric sign boards were purchased with senate money to help keep students better informed. These signs are located in the student center and business building; one is planned for the science building. The senate will play a big role in the newly opened student service center. There is a bill currently before the senate for the purchase of Legislative body attempts to save students money on fees. typewriters that will be checked out overnight by students through the service center. Senators will also work in the center, so that they will be easily accessible to students voicing their opinions. This years senate is truly committed to service and to each student. |
