one of the oldest and most honorable of the residents of this city sister elizabeth oakley of the 7 ath to ward a rd passed from this life the cause of her death being pneumonia super induced by old age mother oakley was born brn in staten island new york her ancestors who were of dutch extraction being alonz among the early set settlers tiers of that region had she lived till the dutli uth ot of next month montu would have been 91 years of age she and her husband the late ezra oakley who died about seven years since and their children were the first persons to embrace the gospel dospel on grandchildren and a large number of great grandchildren nearly all of whom are firm in the faith falth f at th the funeral occurred yesterday the service being held in the fourteenth ward assembly rooms the speakers were bishop 0 F whitney patriarch john smith elder geo 11 taylor bishop wm thorn and apostle F D richards all of whom stoke spoke highly of the character of the deceased and gave on the streets yesterday that joseph W mcmurrin mcm who was shot by deputy collin a few weeks ago had been removed from his home t to 0 some unknown place he had been sub anaed to appear as a witness at collins Col coi coffins fins examination yesterday but dr benedict had certified that to tore remove him would greatly endanger his life so he was not brought last evening however deputies greenman and smith went to Mc house where they were informed that on monday day night at the solicitation ol 01 his friends McMurrin nic Alc Murrin had consented to be removed the reason assigned being that he could liot not hope to receive justice under the present administration of affairs in the district court dr benedict was questioned as to the result of this course and emphatically declares it as his opinion that in going away mcmurrin has taken desperate deserate erate chances and that his ilfe fife life ilfe has been greatly endangered thereby when the dr made his statement to the marshal as to his hi s patients inability to bear removal he was under a firm conviction that the injured man was at home having seen him monday at noon and anen he heard the rumor ot of his disappearance I 1
