delegates and stock tock men from different parts of the territory meb met at the opera house and proceeded to form a temporary organization un on motion of mr J C itt alsch mr 11 II J faust was elected temporary chairman and in a brief and pointed address addless he explained that the object of the convention was to unite the stock interests of the entire territory and adopt such auch measures as are tire necessary tor for mutual protection and success ile he refer to the fact that similar associations had been formed in adjoining states and territories and had resulted in much good rood by their efforts many stock thieves had been driven from their heir beir borders and d had taken refuge here where they are committing delpreda eions on our cattle cattie and horses one of the leading subjects f for fon f the consideration clon ilon of the convention would bebow to get rid of these thieves another important matter to be discussed is the making ol 01 arrangements arran cements by which blooded stock can oe ne purchased without paving middlemen exorbitant or bitant profits the convention can exercise an influence with the lisia legislature tp to make laws that will
