Show lulled KILLED BY A luok klok FACTS DEVE beve DEVELOPED LOPED AT THE L quest INQUEST HELD UPON THE DEAD BODY OF GARDNER yesterday an inquest was heldak held heid at big cottonwood upon the body of henry gardner the young man who died from the effects af a injuries received in a tight night at pitts saloon on the state road the facts testified to bf by the witnesses examined are as fo follows lows henry gardner and john jonn hill were in inthe lathe the saloon talking of the merits of their respective horses and both being somewhat under the influence of liquore goon soon got disputing in very warm language u abik it seems that gardner called fl hill I 1 I 1 a d n liar whereupon the latter struck gardner I 1 in ll 11 the face knocking him down dowl win wm hamilton who was standing near held hill until gardner Te gained regained his feet when the two again commenced fighting and were pushed out on to the porch when whon both fell to the ground near the railing nielson Nl elson eison the bartender came out and kicked gardner in the face and abdomen ile he was taken home and soon showed evidences of severe illness having great pain in the abdomen dr A banscher imon Ran was summoned and on examination found he was suffering from a rupture of the bladder doubtless caused by the kick received from irom neilson A post mortem examination of the remains was held yesterday and the following is the evidence sworn to by dr benedict 1 I made a post mortem ex examination initiation a odthe of the deceased this day dece december berc berl 25 13 1884 and found as follows 0 lu c used fused wound over tho right eye and an abrasion of the right cheek also a small wound on the back of the head an inspection of the fronton front of the body showed a young and well developed man iuan t with five 5 bruises on the cheat chest and a abdomen three prominent bruises were on the left side of the chest and abdomen and below the fold of the tha e gr groin in 0 on the c same side one bruise just above ove t the e right groin extended to t the e mid middle middie le line of the body and corresponded s with one in the same saine place on the left side these were all the external marks visible upon opening the bodi body the heart and lungs were found to be showed no signs sign of disease or injury the cavity of the abdomen contained about three quarts of fluid sero in character upon removing the fluid a rupture of the urinary bladder was found ragged on its edges and one and ane one mif half halt inches in length this was on the upper surface of the bladder and was surrounded by bruised and discolored tissue Cause of death rupture of the url uri nary bladder and as a result ot of aforesaid a fatal peritonitis anil and death caused wholly and enair entirely ely by the said rupture and which sal sai said sald rupture was due to external violence J M U BENEDICT nid MD december 1884 subscribed to and sworn to before me this dry of december AD 1884 frincis AIr DoNALD JP jia 11 VERDICT OF TILE THE JURY TERRITORY OF UTAI urah 1 county of salt la lake ke J an inquisition hoide boide natii natIf II 11 gardn Gard gardners gardeners ners r blo bio cottonwood precinct this da day of We december ember 1884 before F FMc me Donaldy conall J P upon the body of henr henry gardner ardner there lying alyin dead by the jurors whose names are hereunto subscribed e the said jurors on their oaths do say that the said henry gardner came to his death by blows and kicks administered by one john hill and charles neilson at pitts saloon on the state road south of salt lake city three I 1 miles on the night of the day of december 1884 causing a rupture of the urinary bladder from which cause death on the morning of the A at one a in in testimony whereof the said jurors have hereunto set their hands the day and year aforesaid D B B BRINTON R I 1 NT ON RICHARD richarb HOWE JOHN sutherland francis cDoNALD 31 justice of the peace |
