| Show AN OPENING IN IRELAND by br courtesy of sister marshall of toquerville we are enabled to publish h the thy following extract from a letter from her husband elder robert marshall now on a mission in ireland which shows that he and his fellow missionary elder wilson have su c ceedee in making an opening I 1 for the gospel in that country where thus far comparatively small success has attended the labors of the brethren 1 I feel deeply grateful to my heavenly eather rather for the kindness which iny my brethren and sisters have manifested towards you and I 1 pray god illy my eternal father that the choicest hessing messing of heaven maybe may be bestowed upon all vilo wilo wiio haye have in any way assisted you la lii my tily absence I 1 have already baptized four very I 1 promising rom ising saints tu in belfast tell my tuy toquerville erville friends that their boquer ville missionary in ireland had the pleasure of breaking the ice and baptizing his first convert the first person baptized in ireland for these last 20 or 25 years elder wilson five minutes later took his first convert alsol also into nto the water and since that dal dag day the nth uth of august the work has s been going on and we have now a nice little branch in belfast where none existed when we arrived this will no doubt make your hearts to rejoice r but we do not get all this for a walk over our ur lives ilyes have been threatened more than once the devil howls but god triumphs when I 1 went out to hold a mee meeting tin la in the country I 1 was told that they them w were ere determined to drown me in irr luthe inthe the river I 1 re replied P ed t hat that I 1 w was a s not to be frightened aw 1 went elt eit I 1 an and d p preached rea c h ed and none molested me I 1 was told today to day that I 1 would be killed if I 1 held heid a meeting at rathmore I 1 told them I 1 had only one life to lose and I 1 to lay it down for the cause of god if it was necessary we have been often warned that we will be put in the sea at belfast but we attend to our work leaving our safety in the hands of our father my fello feilo fellow W missionary is as fearless as a lion we f ast fast every sunday and never hever forget zion and the loved ones there sorrow filled my soul and my tears flowed to read the account of the martyrdom of tennessee who will go next no one can tell but this we know that our father is ia at the helm |
