quarantine authorities of the city to prevent if possible the spread of this disease dibease i though it is advisable at present to establish ata batih strict quarantine rap regulations respecting it yet yel it Is naces necessary to advise the adoption of such precautionary measures on the part of the inhabitants as will accomplish the object desired preventives As prevention is better batter than cure it is the duty of all to guard against disease and especially is it the duty of parents parente aud athers who have children under their care tasee to see bee that they are far mi may be from the ravages of the contagion now in our midst therefore children should be warmly clad at this his season of the year in flannel if possible not exposed to the cold winds of early morning or late evening allowed plenty lenty of good healthy food avoiding everything th thab that atwill wili will disarrange the stomach plenty of fresh air and suna sunshine hibo bibe their entire bodies kept clean by a free use of warm water and soap at least twice a week thelo ThelA leeping rooms should be aa as large as possible I 1 warm and well ventilated but no child should be permitted to sleep in a current of night air aier EXPOSURE during the prevalence of epidemic diseases children should be cuan suar ded against ex exposure to the infection elow how to do his best will occur to each parent or guardian decaying vegetables from cellars and neighboring outhouses out houses and decayed vegetable or other foul matter from yards and gardens disinfect by burning sulphur inside the house and by sprinkling car carbolic bolle acid in and around it and fresh lime or chloride of lime ilme dr or abbes ashes on the outside and in all water closets and out outhouses houses esl eSt there is now preva prevalent DEATH when a death occurs from diphtheria or other contagious dibease disease great care should be taken not to unnecessarily expose the remains the house should be immediately y fumigated by burning sulp sulphur hur therein all clochi clothing ng bedding carpet etc w which aich have been used around the patient or been in the room occupied by it should be well washed and boiled in a strong sou solution of chlorinated soda or permanganate of potash and carbolic acid FUNERALS the funerals of those who die from diphtheria scarlet fever or other infectious diseases should be conducted as privately bately and with as few fer attendants as possible and those only adults the cervices ser vices should hould be held in rooms which have not been exposed to the infection fec tion and which
