| Show WHAT HAS BEEN DONE IN SIX YEARS six years yam ago last lil bleary february mr G M and family moved from illinois to the bear river valley ile he purchased a farm just west ot of what is now tremonton Tre monton and went to work some of the land had been cleared of sage brush and sown to wheat one ot of the first jobs mr air undertook after getting gelling his family bamily housed was the setting out of an orchard that they might ile be supplied with fruit this orchard consists of 0 about apples trees with a liberal supply of cherry pear plum peach and prune trees nearly all of which S have already come into bearing and for size and ligor igor considering their age the trees in this orchard are hard to beat anywhere we had ahe he pleasure of visiting the orchard and we certainly were surprised to see the thrifty trees and the load ot of fruit they bore and to be told that they were little samplings sapp lings only six bears ears ago we understand that he had about bushels of apples apple this fall many of the trees had home borne fine crops of peaches plums pears and of apples the crop is so BO heavy on many of the trees that they are breaking down although he has had bad bushels of them picked off to lighten the burden A strong windbreak wind break of poplars and other trees protects this orchard rind prevents the wind from throwing down the fruit before it Is ripe mr air has so much falth faith in this as a good fruit country that lie ho has another orchard of ten acres west of 0 his house that will be the pride of his bis farm in two or three years more it certainly Is a pleasure to visit a farm where the owner lias has been so successful in getting an orchard planted and la in bearing in eo co short a time it shows what thrift energy and common sense can do |
