committee had resolved on the appointment of thomas E taylor as public printer adopted mr grover moved that a joint committe be appointed on revision and compilation to consist of five members bers from the council and seven from the house alter after some discussion not without direct deposition position opposition from various parts of the oe hamber chamber the president urged the appointment of the committee on the grounds of efficacy and expediency he feeling eeling f sure that it would meet the requirements of the members pending a decision on this matter the chief clerk read a communication from the house to the effect that they had concurred in the resolution relative to the distribution of laws to members it was resolved that a committee of two be appointed to act with a business moved that a joint committee be appointed to wait upon his excellency the governor laid on the table to await organization of council W 11 II dusenberry offered the resolution that the rules of last session should govern the action of the present res session after some animated discussion by peery pecry hatch dusenberry and others the resolution was laid upon the table indefinitely A message was received from frol the council stating that it was org organized an iced and ready for business the motion relative to appointing a joint committee to wait upon the governor was brought up order at the committee appointed to wait u upon p the governor reported that ills his E excellency X cel lency would be pleased to meet the members of the house and council in joint session at any hour tomorrow to morrow the loth the hour of 1030 was designated as being the most convenient to all parties concerned A motion thattie that the council be requested to meet with the house in joint session to receive the message from irom his excellency the governor and for the transaction of such other business as may be brought before it was carried adjourned till tomorrow to morrow at 10 a m Tuesday loth 1884 the house was called to order by the speaker at 10 pursuant to adjournment journ ment yesterday the roll bein being called several members were reported absent who almost immediately made their appearance the session was opened with prayer by the chaplain the minutes of yesterdays session were then react reau and approved JOINT SESSION at 1030 the members of the council coune il were introduced by the sergeant at arms and conducted to seats assigned them hon W W cluff president of the council requested blat that the chief clerk of the council proceed to call the roll of the council all were reported present the speaker of the house desired that the roll of the house be called no absentees the chaplain of the house M IF cowley offered a prayer the president of the council hon W W cluff declared the joint session open and prepared to transact business his Excellency the Gover introduced trod by the president of the council and delivered his message to the legislature W W taylor of salt lake county asked leave to offer the following resolution lution that the several subjects treated upon by his excellency the governor in his message be referred to the appropriate committee committee in each house and that 2000 copies of the message be printed for the use of the tile legislative assembly and for distribution the minutes of the joint session were called for read and approved motion that the joint session be adjourned jour ned prevailed benediction pronounced by the chaplain adjourned HOUSE mr dir D il II peery moved that the ser geant a n t at a arms r in abe govern the present session was brought up for reconsideration by mr nir peery mr stanford of of weber county offered an amen amendment Gent to the effect that the rules be read and passed upon separately for the benefit of new members the motion was opposed on the ground that the read frig would consume too much time after consider considerably ablo abio discussion by vie hie dusenberry
