I did not attend, nor did I send a gift. Some time later, this same bride was given a baby shower. Z Louise Davis did not attend, but sent a gift I have thank you never received even though I have seen her a number of times. The baby is now several months old. On another occasion, I received an invitation to a bridal shower and couldnt place the name or her of the bride-to-b- e fiance. Later I learned that she was the fiancee of a brother of an acquaintance! I sent my regrets and did not send a gift. I am tired of being used. I would like to have your comments printed even if you have lambasted others in the past. Louise Davis answers: I am glad that you took a stand by using common sense. Having had no thank you, "either verbal or written, you may even' have regrets about sending a gift to the baby shower. Ingrati-Jud- e is disheartening. However,' there is ' are-mot- e possibility that there was no enclosure card with your gift or that the card was misplaced or lost The woman in your church guild who invited you to the wedding had no right to do it Such an Invitation should always come from the brides parents, even if it is verbal. For Party Atmosphere , Fondue, says Mrs. Scott is as warming to the heart cockles as it is to a party atmosphere. Over in the little Swiss village of Chaud de Sond, where Mrs. Scott (then Sue Moyle) and her sister, Mrs. Given A. Light (then Pat Moyle) used to visit on weekends to see their brother, they learned the delightful custom of dunking bread cubes in Fondue Neuchateloise. That was the way it all began. The girls were attending school in Paris. The brother was living in Switzerland. Every little restaurant in the village boasted a bubbling bowl of fondue on the table, Mrs. Scott remembers. So much fun. Such good eating. Brought Recipe Home The girls brought home with them the genuine old Swiss recipe. Now its a favorite with the whole Moyle family, Mrs. Scott said, as we chatted over a bubbling chafing dish of it in her colorful living room, with wide windows that look out on a wooded lot that was formerly part of her late grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James H. I told him it would not be proper. He replied in anger, Proper shmopper, its our own business and other people couldnt care less. Its true we never see his family and have nothing whatever to do with them. In fact his former wife refuses to accept support money or gifts for the boy. My husband hasnt seen the child in seven years and says he feels nothing for him. Under the circumstances what do you advise? TORN Dear Torn: Sorry only one Junior to a generation and your husband has used up his quota. Identically named cousins are bad enough, but two Jun-iors from the same Senior could create real confusion and even problems. My advice Is to come up with name. Dear Ann Landers: In reference to your questions and answers on telephone etiquette I do not agree. I believe it is rude to ask an unknown person Who is this? I especially resent it when a child asks me this before calling his mother or father to the telephone. In my opinion it is not necessary to identify ones self unless one wishes to leave a message. My husband is on your side. He always wants to know who is calling. When I refuse to ask be gets mad. ex-pe- .This is Luscious Fondue Neuchateloise.
