Show THE TABER tabernacle HAOLE CHOIR EXCURSION WE know of no organization in this city ahat that deserves dese debe ivea enjoyment or one that secures it better when intending to obtain it than the tabernacle choir it contains in itself the elements for much pleasure being composed osgood of good BIng singers erbs erss bome some excellent instrumental performers perfo imers and a host ol of friendly companionable and latter day clay saints it always has a good time on a trip and the excursion to echo on tues bues day was no exception to its general rule about three hundred persons formed the party which moved out of the utah central depot at am and they were very comfortably provided for five cars were devoted to their we uge three of which were wera union pacific palace coaches with every convenience for travel ere and the tha other two first class utah central cars A lovely morn ing and a swift passage to ogden made everybody feel cheerful and a short detention there was not disagreeable the excursion train pulled out ahead of the general eastern passenger train and was run up un to echo on the smooth road so BO that it reached that point by half past ten the sights were duly seen deviva gate devils slide the thousand milo mile tree treb the witches rocks boce uhe iha grand scenery enory cc ever changing as tho the ascent was made tho the bright green foliage the sparkling niver liver the tha verdant slopes the recky ridges the towering heights the tho deep green dells delis dud and the quiet villages and harvested fields were all enjoyed and commented on and when the halt was made at the mouth of echo canyon a fine grove belonging to mr james bromley around which the rapid weber flows was hailed with delight as the pirce place for the picnic for which overy evory one was ready A plank bridge had bean been fixed across the river for the tho convenience of the vial visitors tors and a cooking stove placed in tho grovo grove so BO that those who indulged might have gla fla a comfortable for table cup of tea ton under the shada of tho the trees groups of friends dined tog tor together ethen ether with an appetite highly improved by the pure air and novel surroundings then a con cert was improvised in which W foster poster 0 K R savage and evan stephens and miss arnes arnea olsen oisen sang bang charming solos prof weihe favored the company with some of his exquisite violin relec eions and prot pro beesley and his orchestra played accompaniments and instrumental nieces the tha choir sang bang bangan an anthem football and other games were played by the agile and athletic angelere tried their hooks with varied success old friends chatted the tha curious climbed pulpit rook rock and brought away specimens and all enjoyed themselves until four loud blasts from the locomotive loca motive waked the echoes of the ever everlasting last ing hills and called the company to the train again i at half past four after the regular passenger train from the east cast had passed piss edthe the excursion rolled out of echo on an le the return trip all feeling under obligations to Mr BromleY for his grove and courtes lesat wh whose os e hotel ample provisions had been I 1 made to regale all hungry comers with excellent food at a very reasonable price prest W V W clunn cluff and many friends from coalville Co alville also visitors from hennefer and other adjacent places favored the company with their presence the trip down the canyon was hugely enjoyed the magnificent scenery showing to so much more a advantage than on the ascent accent and the shades of evening just beginning to fall lending a charm and a contrast t to 0 the glorious views of mountain and valley which weber canyon so abundantly affords aff ordly at ogden the special was attached to the regular utah central ex cx arese prese and reached this city about occurred to mar the harmony of the excursion b but everything passed of pleasant plessant ai and aud au to universal satisfaction the U P and U 0 companies were praised for tor or the princely t I 1 on 0 ait att afforded corded the choir and friends conductors ren ben livingstone Livingst one oue ol of the former and zeb jacobs atthe ot the lauer came eama in for many lon fon 01 r their courtesy and attention and 0 11 savage and chas smith of the choir committee who engineered tle thu whole affair were spoken of with many words ot of sincero commendation the tabernacle choir Is ia celebrated all over this great country for the splendid music which it discourses regularly on the sabbath in the 1 mormon tabernacle and Is ia deserving dei del i of all the innocent recreation which its ita members can find time tc to tairo taire we always enjoy their singing and their company and hope they wirl vill have sweet bwee melody odain in their hearts and xoi woi moices voices cesin in time and throughout all eternity |
