Show t 1 I I Letdown for the S tors put it all together , Now, some will argue that the Utah Stars, being members of the American Basketball Association, haven't been doing much of that this season. With tits exception of a couple good games here and there like their in over Boston, the Stars have been confused in their adjustment period under new coach Joe Miffianey. Utah has sputtered on offense and bas had mental lapses on defense. But that wasn't the case Friday night at the Salt Palace and it was reflected in the Star win over San Diego, before 7,168 fans. The Vikings remained the only unbeaten team in the National Football League lagt Sunday when they beat the undefeated Los previously and Grant Angeles tams must watch for a letdown this week when they take on Cleveland. 10-- 9 rallied on a Minnesota, solid defensive effort to stop Los Angeles last week but will be facing a more defense. minded teara in the Browns this week. 7-- II Ti 11 ., The Stars unleashed Willie Wise. Wise lit up former Arizona State star Paul Stovall like a lantern the second and third quarters. "That was a bad match!) in my coacha subdued ing," admitted coach Wilt Chamberlain in the San Diego dressing room. "I'll have to take a second look at that. But that s the way I had to do it tonight. "But take nothing away from Wise. He's a tremendous player. He can do it all." Wonderous Willie flipped in 34 repoints, grabbed eight bounds, had four steals and eight asssts. middle linebacker problems. Jerry Sherk and Walter Johnson are two of the best defensive tackles around." Cleveland has a problem, though, in that Johnson has been hospitakzed with the flu and Sherk has been bothered by a bad cold. Joe Jones and Nick Roman, the rest of the Cleveland defensive line, have been below par this week. Browns stumbled against San Diego last week, after tying the Chargers entering the game as heavy favorites. The tie left Clevee land 112 games behind Pittsburgh in the AFC Minnesota Central race. e enjoys a bulge in the NFC Ce7tral. In other NFL games SunLos Angeles is at day, at New Buffalo Atlanta, Orleans, Miami at the New York Jets, Cincinnati at Dallas, Kansas City at San Diego, the New York Giants at Oakland, Denver at St. Louis. New England at Philadelphia, San Francisco at Detroit, Chicago at Green Bay and Houston at Baltimore. Washington is at Pittsburgh Monday night. Atlanta needs a victory over Los Angeles to make a race of it in the NFC West. The Falcons trail the Rains by two games and a loss to Los Angeles would force Atlanta to make up four games in six weeks. 4.. ..- . f , I , , ,.., t.,... 1 1.4,... ...... .. ."':,,,,N ...,,,,..,.., !.......s, , ''It'''141,. "First he can take it back to the shop he purchased it from and hope they make things right. Or, he can buy a new ball." Beside having a bowling ball should you be bowling with a "dodo" in an ABA sanction meet and win, there's a good chance that while bowling with the "dodo" you've picked up some bad habits. McMillian noted another problem Le's come across at his shop is finger holes that've been improperly drilled. "There's a section on the bowling ball that's been especially constructed for the holes. It's the keaviest part on the ball and it's called the 'weight block.' "Most of the time its located right under the company's stamp. But sometimes it's not. If the shop selling the ball doesn't take time to find the 'weight block' and just drills over the stamp, then the balance of the ball is thrown off drastically." Earl Beckstead, an employe of the shop, noted that another factor sometimes overlooked by a bowling ball buyer is the weight. "I'd say that about 95 percent of the men bowlers roll a ball. The other, 5 percent should be rolling a lighter ball. "A bowler should be able to roll three games and not feel at all tired. If he is, then he should go to a lighter ball," Bedistead pointed out. He also suggested that after the new bowling ball is purchased, a few lessons or pointers from a pro would be in ordPr.
