She knew very few in the community back then To her, Salt Lake was just a dot on the map. But it was somewhere that offered a new challenge, a new experience, a chance to s Spanish-American- esc, t a Polynesians and others who have lelt then marks on society? Minority kids need examples of people with their same heritage w'ho have excelled and helped build the state. Its up to us to provide these models and foster a feeling of pride In order to accomplish this, Mrs. Henry and other members of the minorities committee nt presently is composed of around 10 ethnic leaders from the community) are involved in writing a series ot vignettes Each vignette will deal with a specific culture Right now the goal is to place the booklets as they are completed in the seventh-grad- e classroom as teaching aids. And accordmg to Mrs Henry, its the first time such an ambitious project has been undertaken. To her knowledge, in fact, few have ever attempted to tell the story of Utahs other u un turn M'ncm accomplish thmgs There aren't many ppople who have accomplished much more either, or many who have been more active in civic work Mrs Henry is a member of so many organizations that the list would probably reach from her downtown office at the Salt Lake Board of Education, where shes a minority consultant, to the outskirts of Sandy For years, her name was synonymous with the Central City Day Care Center where she worked with children and parents of all races, colors and creeds with equal vigor and love.
