The first week of workouts was hectic , new Eagles coach Marv Edwards said late Sunday night in a telephone interview. The ice was being used from shout eight to five every day except today, when ve called a halt at noon. Jack (Seals coach Jack Evans) and I were both doing a lot of shuffling and juggling to look at different combinations. The California organization really has a wide open camp here. Most of the 50 players on hand are young ones, and many of them have a chance to crack the Seals roster. Jack wants to make sure he gets a good look at everyone In order to uo that, he is going to continue to make roster switches throughout this week. It is still too early to tell anything about the makeup of our roster for regular season play. Well start to get more of an idea about that later this week and should have our roster pretty much finalized by Oct. 3 when we play the Seals in an exhibition game at the Sait Palace. Culmination of last weeks training sessions was an exhibition game the Seals and the Eagles on Saturday after rosters for each team for that game only were designated Fnday. The game ended in a 5 tie, with Dave Hrechkosy of the Seals scoring in 5-- the final two minutes to tie the contest The Parsons of Westminster College will carry the undefeated title into their first 'home game of the year this Saturday against the College of Idaho. The Parsons earned the role with a stunning win over Carroll College m Helena, Mont., Saturday , 27 7. . Though some had the Parsons down with the loss of fust ouarterback Wait Sturkev. roach Allen Jacobs was optimistic. The Parsons allowed Carroll only three completed passes for 21 yards In the second half Westminster put it together and Stark came out with a passes to Mike Silva in the end zone. The final two scores came on runs set up by Stark. The first score was by Jackie Robexlson. Jim Moxey scored twice for ISie Eagles, while Bob Girard, Mo Brunei and John Martin each had singletons. Moxey and Girard are veterans from full or partial seasons with the Eagles the past two years, wkiie Brunei and Martin are trying to make the step up from Toledo of the International League. Edwards used three goalies in the returnees, Ray Martynuik and game Ernie Miller, plus Pierie Chagnor., another Toledo hopeful. Edwards was particularly impressed with Chagnon. Proof of the changeability of the Seals and Eagles rosters currently is the fact that new ones were listed Sunday and differed Considerably from the game rooters. We play our next exhibition game Wednesday against the Portland Buck-aroonow a senior amateur team, and I think our roster will be much different then than now, Edwards said He pointed to Moxey , defenseman Brent Meeke and center Lyle Biadley fop thp 3$ Eagles Saturday, and said all will get a' chance to perform on the Seals roster, this week.
