Cali;4e of death was listed as congestive heart and kidney failure. His family was at the bedside at time of death. He had been in failing health for the past few years. Church seminaries at Lyman Wyoming Stake, South Emery Utah Stake in Ferron, and also taught as a member of the faculty in the Provo seminary system. In 1939, Elder Hunter received a second master's degree, this time in education and guidance, from the University of Southern California. He later became an instructor in the Institute of Religion in Logan and it was while he was teaching here that he was called as a General, Authority in April ,:: ;.: .' ......... ... where he was awarded 1his bachelor's degree in 1929 and his master's in 1931. He went on to the Ilniversity of California at Berkeley where he earned his doctor of philosophy degree in 1933. While studying in institutions of higher learning he taught in and was principall of schools in St. Thomas, Nev., and Leamington and Lakeview, Utah. Elder Hunter's grandparents were converts to the Church in Scotland and were among Utah's early pioneers. After he attended public schools in, his home town, Elder Hunter enrolled in Brigham Young High School in Provo, and later Brigham Young University, -- .,,...,,,...,-- - , ..,:, v3Hunter, chaeologists. It was from these studies and travels that his books and photos came.
