People of the Peaks (Ch. 5, 8:30 p ni.) is a spe lal about a iittle kim n story m television. The documentary deals with thr translator system, whit li carries television progtams to nearly every coiner of Utah and which also gets TV into many remote aieas of Idaho, Wyoming and Nevada. If the tianslator system weie not operating, television probably would be available only to Springville on the south, pait of Biigham City on the north and only to the mountains on the east. The system consists of about IDO tiaiismittei f,u ilitie-- , in Utah, which carry the signal into such remote communities as Escalante, down in Bryce Canyon. To slimv its value to a community, the 306 residents of Orderville, Utah, paid $13,000 to carry the system into their community. It required nine translators to get the signal in there.
