In seeking a way to develop and present their talents, they have formed a special Performing Arts Committee as a subcommittee of the LDSSA Board which coordinates all activities of Church students at the University. The new committee has announced a concert of almost unbelievable talent to be presented in the Tabernacle May 18. The committee is headed by Scott Kenney, a recently returned missionary, and a highly endowed violist. Other committee members include Craig Fineshriber, Lowell Bagley, Marge Hall and Marsha Nelson. Serving as an advisory board are Scott Kenney, Craig Fineshriber, Ronald Horton, Marilyn Pitts, Walter Boyden, Ben Lokey, Carolyn Anderson, and James Prigmore. With the exception of Mr. Prigmore, all members of the advisory board are or have been members of the Utah Symphony Orchestra, the Utah Civic Ballet, and the Tabernacle Choir. All are enrolled either as undergraduate or graduate students at the University of Pres. Utah. Principal objectvies of the LDSSA Performing Arts Committee are: (1) To provide performance opportunities for young LDS musicians and dancers, and (2) To provide quality entertainment for wards and stakes, as well as the general public. y The committee has already instituted a Recital Series. It is presented every Tuesday noon at the East Institute. The first program, last Tuesday, featured the Schumann Piano Quintet. Next Tuesday the University of Utah Chamber Choir will present a program. For its "Spring Concert in the Tabernacle, May 18, the performers will include a symphony orchestra which includes members of the Utah Symphony Orchestra, the University of Utah Symphony Orchestra, and also several other qualified university and high school instrumentalists. The program will also include the University of Utah Chamber Choir, the University of Utah Institute Choir, the Highland High Seminary Choir. Bryan Epperson, cellist who recently won first place in the national high school music talent contest, and Alan Ball, runner-u- p in the same contest that was held in Texas just a month ago, will be guest soloists. Both have made many appearances throughout the West.' The program will also include two ballet numbers by three members of the Utah Civic Ballet: Peggy Scott, Bart Cook, and Vickie Morgan. They are being coached by Carolyn Anderson and Ben Lokey, principal soloists of the Utah Civic Ballet.
