Show 2 More Added To Primary Board Two Salt Lake women have been named members' of the general board of the Primary Association by Gen. Pres. LaVern W. Parmley. They are Mrs. Florence R. Lane of the 14th Ward, Monument Park Stake, and Mrs. Virginia C. Bryner of the Yale Second Ward, Bonneville Stake. Mrs. Lane, who was born in Aberdeen, Idaho, is the wife of Perry L. Lane. She has been serving as Relief Society president of, the 14th Ward in Monument Park Stake. A native of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Bryner is the wife of Dr. Ulrich R. Bryner. She has been serving as the spiritual living leader in the Yale Second Ward Relief Society. Both women have served long in the Primary. Mrs. Lane was Monument Park Stake Primary president from 1957-6Prior to that time 'she was YWMIA president in the 10th Ward of the same stake. In the Vallejo Ward of Berkeley Stake she was the Relief Society literary leader, and in the Arcade Ward, North Sacramento Stake she was the Gleaner leader and the Junior Sunday School coordinator. Since 1963 she has been a teacher at the Hillside Junior High School Seminary. She attended the University of Idaho and the University of Utah and was a missionary in 'the Western States mission. Mrs. Bryner is a graduate of the University of 0thh and has done graduate study at Brigham Young University and Utah State University. From I960 to 1965 she taught French at Highland High School, and art fct the Stewart Training School from 1959-6From 1962 to 1964, Mrs. Bryner was a member of the Bonneville Stake YWMIA board. She has also been a member of the Bonneville S'ake Relief Society and Primary Boards. She has taught in Sunday School, Primary and MIA in the Yale Second Ward. West FLORENCE R. LANE ... 14th Ward VIRGINIA C. BRYNER Qf Secretary The appointment of Jay W. Mitton as general secretary of the Deseret Sunday School Union was announced this week by Gen. Supt. David Lawrence McKay. Mr. Mitton has been serving as acting general secretory since May 20 following the death of Rich- ard E. Folland, former general secretary. A member of the B o u n tiful Third Ward, Bountiful Stake, Mr. Mitton is a Seventy. He school attends part-timat the University of Utah MR. MITTON Law School where he is working on a J.D. degree. In addition to serving in the Northern States Mission, Mr. Mitton has filled two stake missions, served as a counselor In the Boise Stake Mission Presidency and as a president of the 23rd Quorum of Seventy. He teaches part-tim- e in the BYU Center for Continuing Education in Salt Lake City and la a member of the Sunday School General Board in addition to working as the general secretary. Formed From Dallas DALLAS, TEX. The new Ft. Worth Stake, number 443 on the Church roster of stakes, was formed Sunday with the division of the Dallas, Tex., stoke. Presiding at the division was Elder Harold B. Lee of the Council of the Twelve, assisted by Elder Theodore M. Burton, assistant to the Twelve. The presiding presidency of the Dallas Stoke, composed 6f Pres. Ervin W. Atker-soand his counselors, Gilman J. Hous-leand D. Carl Richards, were retained to continue heading as Dallas Stake. Called to serve as president of the Ft Worth Stake was Bishop John Kelly Jr., of the Arlington Ward. His counselors are Pres. John Walter Porter, bishop of the Denton Ward, first counselor, and Pres. Mark Richard Berrett, a member of the Dallas Stake high council. The new stoke will have 11 wards and branches within its boundary, and Dallas wQl have nine wards and branches. Pres. Kelly was born in Preston, Idaho, on Aug. 8, 1924, a son of John and Henrietta Louise Smith Kelly. He was graduated from Malad High School, and received his bachelors degree from Idaho State University. He later received his masters from the University of Chicago, and his doctorate from Stanford University. He married Doris Smith, Aug. 2, 1918 in thq Logan Temple, and they have three sons and a daughter. Pres. Pierce, as second counselor to Stake Pres. Merrill A. Nelson. He Was born in- Los Angeles, Calif., in 1926 and was a student at Tabiona High School "before entering the BYU. He is a veteran of World War n and Is employed by Mobil Research and Development Corp. of Dallas. Pres. Porter was born In- Mackinaw, 111., Mar. 8, 1958, a son of John Howard and Pearl Edith Kincaid Porter. His wife is the former Margaret Rachel Gorsuch of Dallas. They have one married son; a daughter at Brigham Young University, and a daughter at home. He was educated in Illinois and is a graduate of the University of Illinois. He is an autoipobile dealer as well as a farmer-ranche- r and investor. He was baptised in Ft. Worth, Tex., Dec. 8, 1958 and since being a member of the Church he has served as a Sunday School superintendent; a branch president, and a bishop. Pres. Berrett is a native of North Ogden, Utah. He was bom March 22, 1926 to Thomas F and Harriett Lydia Brown Berrett. He was graduated from Weber High School in Ogden, and Utah State University in Logan. He received his masters degree from. Michigan State University. He has been employed in agriculture-relate- d fields, and at present is potato Inc., of Dallas. buyer for the Frito-LaHe married Joyce Verla Pratt of Flint, Mich., in the Salt Lake Temple Sept. 27, 1950, and they have three sons and three daughters. He has been active in the Church and has served in three bishoprics, two high councils and as a counselor in the Cumo-ra- h Stoke presidency in New York. Western Samoa, has been sustained as second counselor in the Apia Stake presidency at Apia, Western Samoa. Pres. Starr formerly held several administrative positions in public education in northern California, as well as being chairman of the Home Study Department at Brigham Young University, and assistant coodinator for E d ucational Experimental Programs at BYU. Pres. Starr also has held many teaching positions in the Church, and has served as a president in a Seventies Quorum.
