A convert to the Church in 1958 while studying for a B.S. degree in aeronautical engineering at the University of Colorado, City Sept. 22 of Rogers spoke to some 7,000 Explorers in the Salt Lake Tabernacle in 1962. He was named as one of six astronauts oo the X20 Dyna-Soa- r project A squadron companion said the astronauts jet burst into flames and that he ejected from the craft. Neither the body nor plane wreckage had been found a week after the crash. CoL BYU Forum Lectures The noted educator, Prof. Charles Malik, will lead off the a lecture on the United Nations. Prof. Malik will speak in the Assembly Hall on Temple Square, October 12. He will be the first of 15 speakers who will be heard during the next eight months. His subject will be Unit ed Nations. " Recognized as one of the world's foremost scholars, Dr. Malik is now the distinguished professor of philosophy at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, having served as chairman of die United Nations Commission of Human Rights. He challenges the West to take a greater interest in helping the masses in their struggle for peace. BYU Forum Assemblies lectures this fall with Need For Chapels Grows The need for new chapels throughout the world to care for the steady growth of membership Is one of die major problems of the Church. At present there are approximately 850 applications for new chapels being studied by the Church Building Committee to determine congregational needs and the ability of branch and ward members to make their contributions in cash and labor to help offset building costs, according to Mark B. Garff, chairman of the committee. There are now 344 chapels In die process of building in the United States, Canada, Europe, South America, Mexico, Islands of the Pacific and the Far East, he said. Hunter of the Council of the Twelve will dedicate the Cocoa Ward Chapel, Orlando Stake, Florida, on October 8. The Fairview Ward Chape! in St. Louis Stake will also be dedicated, October 8, by Elder Thomas S. Monson of the Council of the Twelve. The Huntsville Branch and Huntsville 2nd Branch, Alabama, Chapel wil be dedicated in the Southern States Mission by Elder ElRay L. Christiansen, Assistant to the Council of the Twelve. In Canada, Elder Harold B. Lee of the Council of the Twelve will dedicate the St. Thomas Branch Chapel in Ontario. The Dusseldorf Chapel in the Central German Mission will be dedicated by Elder Ezra Taft Benson of the Council of the . I Twelve.
