WEST MOUNTAIN, SPRING LAKE, GOSHEN, GENOLA, ELBERTA Wednesday, April 24, 1996, Number .17 Volume 110 USP 424-16- 0 PHONE 465-922- 1 50g Nine To Compete For Title Of Miss Santaquin Saturday Nine lovely young ladies are vying for the title Miss Santaquin at the annual Miss Santaquin Pageant to be held this Saturday, April 27, at the Santaquin Gty Center auditorium, 45 West 100 South, at 7:00 p.m. They are: Emily Butler, daughter of Randy and Ranee Butler, Cassie Ercanbrack, daughter of Clint and Carol Ercanbrack; Marissa Evans, daughter of Craig and Paula Evans; Mindy Holman, daughter of Doug Holman and Can Covington; Nichole Peterson, daughter of Marty and Jacquee Peterson; Amy Robbins, daughter of Wesley and Lynn Robbins; Nicole Rohbock, daughter of Doug and Denise Rohbock; Andrea Sorenson, daughter of Paul and Deann Sorenson; and Melissa Strong, daughter of Russell and Carol Strong. ticket holders are welcome to arrive an hour early (6:00 p.m.). Tickets will be sold at the door and will be available at 6:30 p.m. Emily Butler Marissa Evans - Mindy Holman ' Melissa Strong Payson High School Presents Shakespeares "As You Like It" A woman disguised as a man pretending to be a woman? In Shakespeares "As You Like It," the character Rosalind escapes certain death by going to the Forest of Arden, where she dresses like a man. Her true love, Orlando, also shows up in the forest, and Rosalind quickly convinces him to practice his romantic techniques. She will "pretend to be his Rosalind, (which, of course, she really is). As Rosalind acts out the part, she is freed from many of the emotional and physical constraints she once experienced as a woman. Add a foolish clown called Touchstone, an evil duke, and Oliver, the evil brother of Orlando, and you have a combination which has proved to be one Heather Peterson plays s Rosalind in "As You Like It" at Payson High. of Shakespeares most loved plays. Another central character, Jacques, philosophizes throughout the play, pronouncing some of the most famous Nichole Peterson lines from the English language, "All the worlds a stage..." In the conclusion, the happy wedding of four different couples and the restoration of properties and titles to all shows the renewal of the Forest of Arden is the blessing of nature. Heather Peterson is Rosalind, with David Ryan playing Orlando. Other cast members include Jenny Beckstead as Celia, Dee Taylor as Oliver, Jesse Peery as Touchstone, Grant Bushman as Jaques, Mary Kitchen as Audrey, and TJ Tranche!! as Duke Senior. Kellie Staheli is Phebe, and Ian Danner is Sylvius. Payson High School presents "As You Like It April 26, 17, and 29 in the Payson High Little Theatre, beginning at 7:30 p.m. each evening. Student admission is $3.00, $4.00 for adults, with a family ticket available for $12.00. |
