Orissa Thompson will be celebrating her 95th birthday on December 8 with members of her family. They plan to have a family dinner at a to honor her on this Chuck-O-Ram- special day. V( 4V Friends and relatives of Mrs. Mabell Pickup Ashby Smith, who will be observing her 80th birthday anniversary in December, are invited to honor her at an open house to be held Saturday, Dec. 6, from 3 to 6 p.m., in the Murray North LDS Stake Center, 5200 South 700 West. The event is being hosted by her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Smith requests that no gifts be given. Mrs. Smith was born December 22, 1900, in Vernal, Utah, to George Melvin and Edith Keeler Pickup. She moved with her family to Roosevelt, Utah in 1906, where her father homesteaded on what is now the west bench. She lived in Roosevelt until she married John L. Ashby, December 4, 1919, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in Altonah, Bluebell, Bridgeland, Jensen, Maeser and Murray. Mr. Ashby died in December, 1948. She later married Thomas B. Smith, October 19, 1953. They lived in Murray and Santaquin. Mr. Smith died in August, 1970. Mrs. Smith is currently a member of the Murray Twenty-eight- h ward. She has been an active member of the LDS church all her life, having served as teacher and officer in most of the auxiliary organizations. She has also been an active member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and the Veterans Auxiliary. Along with her husband, Mr. Smith, she served a two-yemission in the Gulf States, and also a two-yestake mission in Murray. Seven children will be honoring her during the open house. They include f(i Cerissa Thompson Mrs. Thompson was born Decem- ber 8. 1885 in Chesterfield, Idaho to Perry and Esther Sessions. She married Hyrum Thompson on March 31, 1904 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in Bloomington, Idaho until his death in 1951. Cerissa has lived in Murray on Clear Street ever since. Mr. and Mrs. Thompson had fourteen children, ten of which are still living. They are: Melba (Mrs. Kenneth) Larsen of Grand Junction, Colorado; Edna Phillips of Portland, Oregon; Retta (Mrs. Fred) Boehme of Murray; Andrew S. of Salt Lake Valear Gillette of Pocatello, Idaho Orvis of Kearns; Dean S. of Murray Dora Probst of Fish Haven, Idaho Gay (Mrs. John) Flint of Syracuse and Lynn D. of Murray. She also has thirty-sigrandchildren and 67 - x Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Clark Messick Temple Wedding Unites Ron Messick and Dawn Higley Holladay resident, Ronald Clark Messick and Kearns resident Dawn Kenna Higley were united in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on November 25. A wedding breakfast at the Print Shop was held after the ceremony and a reception that evening was held at the Chateau. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Everett Higley and is a graduate of San Gorgonio high. She has also attended UTC and the University of Utah. The groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bruce Messick is an Olympus high graduate and is now a student at the University of Utah where he is a member of the Salt Lake Chess Club. He has also filled a mission to Madrid, Spain for the LDS Church. The couple was married earlier that day in a double ring ceremony performed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. The bride was married in her mothers wedding dress. The couple was honored further at a reception given at the brides parents home in Salt Lake. Holy F. Larson was matron of honor and the other attendants were the brides sisters Rebecca, Rosalind and Rachel Larson and the grooms sisters Jane Clark and Susan Clayton. The flower girl was Sara Larson. Rose Johnson and Julie Russell attended the guest book. Best man was Elliot Clark and ushering were Richard and David Larson and Mike Russell. Julia is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Parkinson Larson and is a graduate of Skyline high. She also attended BYU and graduated from the University of Utah with a B.S. degree in Speech Communication. Julia was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority and was a member of the 1979 Days of 47 royalty. Scott is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles William Hillier of Murray and is also a Skyline graduate. He is presently a senior at the UofU majoring in advertising and has filled an LDS Mission to Sao Paulo, Brazil. The new Mr. and Mrs. Hillier plan to FURNITURE FACTORY well.
