Show Parades, Rodeo - W Pioneer Days Activities Set SALT LAKE. A wide variety of activities will climax the Pioneer Days celebration this week. The parade with more than 1,200 horses will inaugurate the Days of 47 rodeo today (Thursday) at 6 p.m. The parade will begin on South Temple at West Temple, go east to Main street, south to 400 South, west to West Temple, north to 200 South and west to 300 West. The rodeo begins today (Thursday) at the Salt Palace at 7:30 p.m. and will run daily, with the exception of Sunday, until next Thursday. The rodeo, approved by the Rodeo Cowboy Assn., is one of the largest rodeos in the world today, organizers said. Events will include bull riding, steer wrestling, wild cow milking, bareback riding, team roping, calf roping and barrell racing. Over $90,000 in prize money will be awarded. Country singer Judy Lynn will be the special guest star. NASA exhibits, films, star parties, tours and guest speakers will highlight the next eight days at Hansen Planetarium and the ZCMI Center. A unique addition to Space Week this year is a science fiction film festival, with awardwinning author Orson Scott as host. Two films will be shown each day at 5 and 9 : 15 after which the science fiction author will lead discussion. Fourteen science fiction films will be shown in the planetariums star theater.
