One of the big issues discussed was the proposed Youth Center for Kearns. According to recent reports, Salt Lake County has $150,000 which has been earmraked for this purpose, and members of the Council plan to see Commissioner Jensen about this as soon as possible. It is time again, and Dale Jamison, health and welfare chairman, asks anyone knowing of a needy family to please contact him, as well as' those who wish to help out. All organizations should check through the Town Council before taking a family to avoid duplications. Bill Lemmons, chairman of the civic improvements committee, is checking to see how plans are progressing for the proposed shopping center and theatre for Kearns. The Council has announced their intention of helping the Fine Arts Foundation secure use of the Kearns Jr. High for their annual presentation of the Messiah, to be held Dec. 22. Members of the Young Peoples Society of Kearns were present at the meeting of the Council, and obtained a family for their project All Kearns residents are urged to attend meetings of the Town Council which are held at 8 p.m. at the Kearns Jr. High on the first and third Monday of each month. The Council welcomes suggestions of any kind, that they might better serve the needs of the community. Following is a list of chairmen of the Council, which you should clip out and keep handy.
