Show Page 6 Thursday, October 18, 19$2 THE VALLEY VIEW NEWS PTA NEWS The Academy Park Room Tea was held on Oceober 11. There were 68 persons in attendance. Mrs. James Parritt, Room Mothers Chairman, introduced the Room Mothers and Mr. Adrin Thomas,, Principal, introduced the teachers. Mrs. Leona Christensen sanw two numbers. The membership drive for West Kearns will begin on Monday, Oct. 22 and run until the 26th. Mrs. Paul Rowley, Membership Chairman, announced that the group e would do canvassing so that they could reach all of the parents. The David Gourley RTA membership drive will go into' full swing on Oct. 22. It will continue until Oct. 29. This will give those on Friparents who have pay-da- y an to day join. Mrs. opportunity Arthur L. Lauber, Membership Chairman, said that they will use scales to measure the parent participation. Prizes will be given to the group having the best parent response. Mrs. Jack Stevenson, PTA President, and the two Mrs. Bob Still and Mrs. William Stewart, are hoping that this will be the best year ever. On Oct. 9 the Room Mothers Tea was held at Oquirrh Hills. Mrs. Lloyd Thornton, Room Representative Chairman, passed out instruction booklets and year books to the parents who were present. Mrs. Ray T. Smith arranged the refreshments. On Nov. 1 Oquirrh Hills is planning a Father and Sons night. This will be followed on the 8th by a Mothers and Daughters night. Parents keep those nights open. The clinic will be open from 9:30 to 12 and from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Parent - Teachers consultations will be held during the month of November. The teachers will be sending time reservations home the children. Western Hills PTA is moving into full swing with their membership drive this week. It is under the direction of Mrs. Art (Aleda) Bigler. The grades will compete against each other in a Rockets into Space contest The winning class in each grade will receive a book which will be donated to the new library in their name. A grade-levworkshop series is underway at David Gourley. Tonight, the second grade workshop is being held. On Tuesday, Oct. 3, the third grade workshop will be held.
