Magna VFW Float Takes First Place MAGNA A float depicting the 49th state and the hopeful 50th state, was selected as the first place winner in the parade held at Magna July 4th. Children representing residents of our new state, Alaska, dawned one-haof the float. Eskimos fishing lf by an igloo was a far cry from the weather that we were actually experiencing at the time of the parade. The other half of the float showed hopeful children of the islands hoping to become the 50th state in the Union. Instead, there is a long list of concessions that serve to strengthen unions, not reform them. There is no provision for the protection of the small business-man who has given his employees every possible benefit, and, based on the whim of some union official, overnight finds will, in turn, back their measures! According to the new bill, the employer must report any costs, even of activities wholly legal and permissible. The bill does nothing about such serious evils as secondary boycotts and blackmail picketing. These, they leave for some future bill someday! maybe! We cannot settle for half-wa- y reform. It is up to the House to see that this bill is revised to provide real protection for workers, employers and the community against union racketeering.
