Show I 1 I 1 SUNDAY SERVICES 11 1 I 1 elder E ider C ellas elias jensen jansen presided at the regular services in the tabernacle acle sunday afternoon the choir sang what was witnessed in the heavens opening prayer by elder lewis S wight singing 0 lord of hosts etc sacrament was administered te redby by elders john P christensen and lorenzo anderson ernest P horsley read an epistle of paul to the ga galatians Galat lat lans Singing for Tor the strength of the hills I 1 elder nels anderson was the first speaker and gave an interesting account of his labors in norway as a missionary compared conditions in the missionary field today with t thai hat rot of a number of years ago and said that while the eld elders ers were not mobbed now as they were ere then there Is a feeling of indifference among the people and satan Is using his power in different ways to injure the work and destroy the characters of the elders elder anderson went into detail to show that god had always been with his servants and was with them today he felt that the lord had been with him during his mission and bore a strong testimony to to the truthfulness of the gospel elder norman lee was the next speaker and made some interesting remarks on his former mission to scandinavia and on his recent call from the first presidency to faill a second mission in great britain brita I 1 n elder lee was pleased that the all authorities ties of the church had seen fit to call him to so great a work and when asked to go had responded im mediately in the affirmative he felt su durehe relfe could make the sacrifices required was willing to spend his money for the cause and was willing to deprive himself of the associations of relatives and friends at home but bat feared sometimes that he would not be able to keep u up p the high standard of the millennial star this being his special calling but would do his best on receiving his former call elder lee stated that he had made up his mind to go where he was called and to work entirely under the direction of those placed over him ins instead of choosing for himself ind and was convinced that this was the best course to take elder lee thought that when a man mail accepts the high calling of a seventy he covenants to be read ready yand and willing at all times to preach the gospel and aid in its promulgation in foreign lands and to refuse a mission would 1 be breaking a most solemn covenant had felt during the past twelve or fifteen years that all he had and Is was dedicated to the service of the lord and hoped he would remain so until tile the end elder E M tyson was the concluding speaker and was a little surprised on being called to the stand abut but felt to respond to the call said he was not much of a public speaker but had filled a mission in the state of new york some years ago and always felt an interest in ill the work believed all young men who accepted a mission had a 1 testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel and that that testimony grew and developed while they progressed in the work elder tyson believed we should be charitable charl and considerate of our friends and neighbors spoke also of the alsing of 0 t children and the love of a mother for her offspring hoped to be guided in the ways of right at all times the choir sang say not I 1 journey alone benediction by elder lars |
