Every September a lot of folks from Idaho, Montana, Washington, and Oregon do Just that. Out of 150 cars converging at the Chris e Busch threshing party at Colton, Washington, last fall, dozens were 300 miles from home. Some even came from western Canada. When it comes-tloyalty, you've thresh- eot to hand it to the old-tiermen. Combines may roll through America's great grain fields, theirs .included. Gone forever is their beloved stationary thresher and its g steam engine. puffing, thresher-ma- n Yet when an old-tiwants to hear the shrill toot of that engine, to him the sweetest music in the whole world, he doesn't need to draw on memory. He merely heads for the nearest, old-ti. threshing party. For something that's a relic of yesterday, the old thresher and its cohort, the steam engine, certainly are getting a lot of attention. And the men who once handled the throttle and pulled the whistle cord are falling into line in a series of regional crusades that add up to a national drive to save the old threshing machine engine.
