"?4,,,',70.7tfi.'" bers r Members I 1 Fear Complex Handicap To Advisers Working with senior members Is, to some extent, a conquest of fear. We all seern to have a variety of inhibitions. Some of them we have nuit wed since childhood and are very sit ong. These inhibiting forces tend to keep us from doing our best. They retard and hinder us from accomplishing many things that would add to our happiness and make us more successful. When they are brought under control. however, they become aids to us. They add to our efficiency and the quality of our performance. Group advisers fail to make necessary contacts with senior members because of unexplainable fears. They are timid or have inferiority complexes. They are afraid they will fail or what people will say or think about them so they neglect doing that which the Lord has called them to do. Success In their calling depends upon overcoming and becoming themasters of these fear complexes. The process of gaining courand age, faith, composure in the work demands a great deal of prayer, study, experience and often outside help. The frequent causes of inactivity on the part of senior meme bers are similar fears. They are afraid to go to Church, afraid of being called upon to participate. Some of their stated fears may seem elementary to us but they are real and frightening to them. Again the problem of the group adviser is to give them the incentive, direction and support necessary to conquer these fears that they might be uninhibited in following the path of duty. It is the responsibility of those who work with senior members to inspire them, to build up their and faith in God, to pray with then and to help them to build courage,. We ell have our fears' and Inhibitions. The courageous man Is not the one who has no fears but the one who has become the master of them, Conquest of fear is certainly a challenge of those who are to work in the program for senior members of the Aaronic Priesthood. tv k i1,1 ; . .. Letters Do' Not Constitute Visit - ft is still the practice in some wards lor bishops to instruct ward teachers le write letters to Inaccessible families living outside of Th ward and then take .credit for haying visited them. This procedure does not conform with established policy. While it is a commendable thing for ward teachers to write to those who are living temporarily Sway- - from home, a letter does Pat take the place of a visit. Bishops who have had a er-standing in this regard are Instructed to discontinue taking credit for' ward teacher's visits to those families receiving letters.
