Show Opinion 2 FORUMFORTNIGHTLY.COM Somewhere over the rainbow Hillary Fowler Editor-m-Chi- cf I never thought I would miss Brigham City, but it turns out I do. After wading through all the quirkiness, I realized there was more to miss than I ever real- EDITOR-IN-CHIE- F HILLARY FOWLER ASSOCIATE EDITOR ized. HOLLY KING I miss the lack of stress. Lines did not exist, except when with cashiers at the local store probably about a broken stop sign. The roads have no lines either no matter the time of day. The biggest concern is getting stuck behind your neighbor on her tractor. I miss free parking wherever I went. There have been times that I have decided to not go out on a weekend just for the sake of not wanting to spend six dollars to store my car downtown. I miss the bam. Even though I was too terrified to go near the roosters and chickens, hanging out at the family barn with the horses and cows was just about the best thing ever. I miss the fresh country smell of cows and the sound my pony would make when he was happy to see me. I miss stargazing. Looking up at the night sky takes away all my stress and worries. In Brigham, when the town turns in around 8 p.m., the stars come out to play. SLC makes me feel alone... where did the sky go? I think it is still out there, but all I see is smog and light radiation. I miss knowing everyone, as if the whole town was my neighbor. The whole town knew everything about my life, but I have learned that my passion and care for people springs from this. I would always find someone who would teach me something new about myself, life or their life that made me a better person. There is often a lack of boundaries in small towns, but it lends to a feeling of community. Everyone has someplace to call home. From around the world, to around the comer, sometimes all we need to do is click our heels together and take a trip back. MATT BAKER What do you miss about home?
