On top of their stewardship of the Great Salt Lake at Robert Smithsons Spiral Jetty, the institute is hosting salt installation artist Motoi Yamamoto for a temporary installation this week in the Meldrum Science Center. Return to the Sea: Saltworks is a salt art sculpture currently being installed in the lobby of Meldrum and will be completed on March 18, according to the organizations website. Its such an unusual opportunity, said Bonnie Baxter, the director of the Great Salt Lake Institute. You get to see the process of creation right before your eyes.
