From taking photographs to riding snowboards, to choreographed shamelessly performing a dance to a spliced soundtrack of Beyonce and Aretha Franklin, Mr. Westminster Mitch Dumke, does it all. Dumke was nominated for Mr. Westminster early this year along with 11 other Westminster misters. The pageants primary function is to raise money for the Salt Lake City Rape Recover Center. However it doubles as an entertainment outlet for both contestants and supporters. It is what Dumke has dubbed exploitive entertainment for a good cause. His willingness and excitement to explore new frontiers, no matter how nerve-rackithey may seem on the surface, is clearly understood when he admits his alternative option to participating in the pageant. I had the option to go to California and hang out on the beach over the weekend before Mr. Westminster, or to stay and practice for the pageant. My decision to stay was completely worth it. When asked if he would participate in the pageant again, Dumke said, Why not?! Its people having a good time while supporting a good cause. Its a good combo.
